July 02, 2017
Ms. Miracent Tanbilda of Western Mindanao State University Molave Campus bested all other beautiful candidates of Ms. SPES Molave staged at the local Gymnasium on June 15, 2017. The competition featured ten (10) grantees of the Department of Labor & Employment's (DOLE) Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).
In line with the 69th Araw ng Molave Celebration, Mayor Ireneo Q. Glepa and the Municipal Council came up with the said pageant to highlight the partnership of the LGU and DOLE by having SPES grantees as candidates. He said during his message that the program is not only limited to the grantees' performance of tasks in the office nor keeping the communities clean, it is also an ideal avenue for them to discover their potentials and hidden talents. The SPES program has been implemented in the municipality since 1990 and has continuously helped poor but deserving students pursue their education by providing or augment their income through encouraging their employment during summer and/or Christmas vacations.
For this year's competition, the candidates were screened by the Tourism Council Members during the SPES outing at the Mabanag Spring Resort in Mahayag. A budget of twenty (20) thousand pesos (P20, 000) each was provided for their costumes, make up, meals and transportation allowances.
During the night of the competition, Ms. Tanbilda received ten thousand pesos (PHP 10,000.00) while the 1st and 2nd Runners Up brought home seven thousand five hundred pesos (PHP 7,500.00) and five thousand pesos (PHP 5,000.00) respectively. The newly-crowned Miss SPES Molave 2017 will also be hired as Job Order employee assigned as Staff of the Tourism Office for a period of one year.#
