Education Industry holds Learning Session and Consultation Dialogue

Pagadian City-The Department of Labor and Employment Zamboanga del Sur Field Office (DOLE ZDSFO) conducted learning sessions and consultation dialogue attended by different private schools and technical-vocational institutions who are members of the Education Industry Tripartite Council of Zamboanga del Sur (EITC-ZDS).
The purpose of the dialogue is to gather issues and concerns and proposed recommendations on the implementation of the enhanced basic education program (K to 12) particularly on the areas on the new general education curriculum, rollout of senior high school, technical-vocational track and displacement due to the K to 12 programs. Other government agencies who participated in the said event were the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Education Program Supervisor of DepEd, Regional Office IX Dr. Ruel A. Saldua, discussed the salient advantages of the K to 12 programs in partnership with other ASEAN countries. Said countries agreed a commonality in education to economic development and for Filipino professionals to cope with the demands in employment and to adopt a recognized standard for students and professionals globally, giving students and professionals more time to master competencies and skills relevant to the job market.
Meanwhile, Engr. Rolando V. Andaya, reiterated that the TESDA's curriculum on technical-vocational track had been aligned to the national standards or international qualifications to be consistent with the job requirements or demands of the skills being specialized, where TESDA will award the completers with Certificate of Proficiency, Certificate of Competency and/or National Certification which could be useful for employment purposes.
Finally, EITC vice president and school president of International Philippine South College Engr. Julius E. Romarate, facilitated the finalization of the council's work plan and agenda, in preparation for the National Congress on February 23-25, 2017 in Manila.
