Baldoz awards ZamboEcozone as Labor Laws Compliant and Child Labor-Free Zone

Zamboanga City - Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz arrived in Zamboanga City to personally unveil the marker and proclaim ZamboangaEcozone and Freeport Authority as a labor laws compliant and child labor free zone.
With the strong commitment of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Family of Agencies headed by DOLE RO-9 Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano, and continuous coordination with the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (ZamboEcozone), six locators were awarded with certificates of compliance (COC) on General Labor Standards (GLS) and Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS), resulting to the unveiling of the Labor Laws Compliant Zone Marker on June 23, 2015, at ZamboEcozone, Talisayan, Zamboanga City.
Aimed to recognize compliant establishments and institutions to further enhance employer-employee relationships and productivity, the activity was attended by around 160 participants coming from the different parts of the region.
Fourteen other establishments were awarded and recognized as compliant establishments. The 6 locators of the zone (ArtnaturePhils. Inc., Mi Casita Company, Inc., AML Fastfood, CTK Asia Rubber Corp., and San Miguel Foods Corp.), received COC on GLS and OSHS which led to the awarding of Tripartite Certificate of Compliance with Labor Standards (TCCLS) and Child Labor-Free Establishment (CLFE). Two service providers, (Helping Hands Development Coop. and Leadership Manpower Services) also received COCs on GLS and OSHS. Further, five other establishments outside the zone (Prudential Customs Brokerage Services, Inc., St. Vincent's College, Rural Bank of Rizal, Century Pacific, and Katipunan Bank) were also awarded COCs on Labor Relations. Moreover, two canning companies (Big Fish Food Corp. and Gold Star Seafoods Corp.) and Montano Construction also received TCCLS and CLFE.
ZamboEcozone Chairman and Administrator Christopher Lawrence S. Arnuco expressed his gratitude to the honorable Secretary for the support and assistance given by DOLE-9 and its Family of Agencies in their journey on compliance with labor standards. "The huge success of our May 1, 2015 Labor Day Celebration has impacted to the business activities in the zone and in the community, and that I am so much grateful for all your assistance", he added.
Meanwhile, Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz thanked ZamboEcozone Chairman Arnuco and all the awardees for cooperating and supporting DOLE's program on Labor Laws Compliance System (LLCS) and all other programs and activities of the Department. She emphasized the strict compliance to DO. 18-A, on Contracting and Sub-contracting and to refrain from engaging into labor only contracting which is a non-conformance under the Labor Code. In her message, she said, "the awarding and unveiling ceremonies are part of the Department's effort to incentivize compliant establishments and economic zones to gain more prestige and promote best practices among industries, and that, I would like to congratulate all the awardees for substantially complying with the requirements and even going an extra mile to implement and comply with all the standards toward providing decent jobs, thereby providing productive workforce."
