ISO IQA at DOLE RO 9: Whole System Audit in full swing
November 21, 2013
Zamboanga City-The ISO Journey of DOLE RO 9 recovers its momentum. Despite the setback and the multifarious concerns the region has to address as a result of the recent crises, management is resolute to get the ISO Journey back on course.
"We have worked and invested so much in terms of resources, time and effort to come up with the four (4) levels of DOLE 9 QMS. Thanks to all for the cooperation. With everybody's participation, we have written what we have been doing which we have translated into Quality Manuals now at our disposal. Let us again journey forward to the next phase, to test and measure what we have collectively written." OIC-Director Sisino B. Cano's message during the IQA Opening Meeting.
The Office of the Quality Management Representative (QMR) OIC-ARD Virginia L. Bonbon, convened the IQA activity. It is a mandatory ISO procedure and a required input to management review. The planned IQA Activity headed by Team Leader, Engr. Wesley D. Tan, OIC Head of DOLE ICFO is scheduled to run from November 6-8, 2013 covering initial audit sites: ORD, MALSU, IMSD, TSSD and ZCFO.
The IQA aims to determine the effectiveness of the QMS in meeting its specified objectives; Identify areas for potential improvement; validate whether processes and procedures of all Field Offices/Units/divisions conform with the documented procedures of the QMS and to the requirements of ISO 9001:2008.
The IQA Team, earlier trained by Prof. RemediosCagulada, ISO consultant, is equipped with audit plan, schedule, checklist of questions and strategy to meet the audit objectives. "Our goal is not to find fault, but to measure how far we have gone. To highlight good practices and detect deficiencies to ensure the integrity of the QMS system which we all worked hard to document and that it contains our collective aspiration and action to continually improve our services all in the interest of measuring the satisfaction of our citizens, " Said Engr. Tan in his introduction during the IQA Opening Meeting.
The IQA Team embarks on a whole system audit of the QMS and the procedures. The Auditees are informed of the scope of audit and expected to be ready to respond to questions and show objective evidence/documents to prove procedures and processes are indeed observed in accord with the DOLE Region 9 QMS ISO 9001:2008.
"As we all commit to the attainment of our goal for ISO-certification, let us not be burdened by the thought of difficulty and obstacles. Let us be confident and be guided that the processes and procedures we have translated into the ISO language and we now subject to audit are processes and procedures we have been doing for many many years," OIC-ARD Virginia L. Bonbon, assures the IQA Team and Auditees.
