DOLE participates in International Coastal Clean-up

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Zamboanga del Norte Field Office headed by Chief LEO/FO Head Ms. Lourdes B. Amores joined and participated in the 30th International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) with the theme: “Bayanihan para sa Malinisna Katubigan at Karagatan” the coastal areas of Sicayab, Dipolog City.

The activity was aimed to educate the publicabout the harmful effects of water pollution especially in seas/oceans and the long-term benefits of conserving marine life by means of proper waste disposal. The activity was organized by The Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte spearheaded by the Provincial Environment Management Office in cooperation with various agencies and private sectors (NGAs and NGOs) from the locality.

During the activity, it was emphasized that wastes should not be burned to avoid air pollution.

DOLE – ZDNFO was assigned at a coastal area in Sicayab near Dalman Beach Resort. The Provincial Government gave their appreciation for the participants’ dedication and commitment to the said activity, and for its successful implementation.

The International Coastal Clean-up is held every third Saturday of September every year. It is the world’s largest volunteer effort in conserving marine life and minimizing water pollution.
