The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Regional Welfare Office 9 will be conducting a 1-day Organizational Development Training (ODT) on April 14 and another 1-day Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT) on April 15 among OFWs in Zamboanga del Norte.

The objective of the said trainings is to equip the applicants with basic entrepreneurial ideas and skills including financial management.

As per our report, the Regional Director of OWWA-9, Hassan Gabra T. Jumdain, will personally meet with the participants for the trainings set at Bajamunde, Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte.

The said agency expects a total of 170 participants for the two separate activities both land-based and sea-based OWWA members. 60 OFWs will be attending the ODT while 70 are expected for the EDT.

The topics included in the training are Financial Literacy to be facilitated by LandBank, Business Registration and Champion Products to be handled by the Department of Trade and Industry, Values Formation: Personality Development as an Entrepreneur to be facilitated by a guidance counselor from Jose Rizal Memorial State University Main Campus, Presentation of DOLE Programs and Services and Talakayan with the Regional Director of OWWA, Mr. Hassan Gabra T. Jumdain. “I will be able to personally listen to the voice and concerns of our OWWA members during the ODT and EDT,” Jumdain said.

The latter will also have a courtesy call with the governor of Zamboanga del Norte, Hon. Robert Y. Uy to discuss the possibility of conducting the Migrant Workers’ Day in Dipolog and strengthen the OFW Help Desks in the said province.

Other important matters will also be discussed during the 2-day training such as election of officers and formation of new OFCs, counseling and reinforcing the already existing ones.

Director Jumdain will be moving around Zamboanga Peninsula to personally visit the OFCs for monitoring and inventory purposes. The said agency is now on the process of updating its directory of all OFCs as part of its continuous networking with the stakeholders. “OWWA-9 continues to review its programs and services to further improve the quality of service that the office renders to its clients,” Jumdain added.
