December 27, 2017
Ipil, ZSP - The Department of Laboe and Employment IX - Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office (DOLE-ZSFO) and its active partnership with the Department of Education (DEPED) Schools Division of Zamboanga Sibugay conducted an orientation on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and Work Immersion citing the provision on Work Safety for Senior High School Students who will be undergoing work immersion as part of the K to 12 program.
The first leg of the orientation was conducted at Zamboanga Sibugay National High School on November 22, 2017 with 90 grade 12 students and 35 parents in attendance. The work immersion program is one of the requirements that grade 12 students have to complete. The immersion will be a training ground for students to have an idea of what the 'REAL WORLD of WORK' is.
DOLE's role is to ensure the safe working condition of the students. DepEd has identified 3 establishments and agency namely Philippine Statistics Authority, ZAMSURECO II and Buddy Machine Shop where the students will be deployed for immersion.
It is DOLE's hope that after the student's exposure to the work setting that they may be able to get a grasp of the real world outside the four corners of their classrooms.
