DOLE-ZDSFO hosts Kalayaan Job and Business Fair in Pagadian City

The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office IX (DOLE9) thru its Zamboanga del Sur Field Office (ZDSFO) in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Pagadian City's Local Government Unit hosted a Job and Business Festival on June 2, 2017 at the Covered Court Plaza Luz, Pagadian City. This event highlighted the Independence Day Celebration and the 48th "Araw ng Pagadian".
DOLE9 Director Ofelia B. Domingo said that the activity adopted the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) Concept forged by the DOLE and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). She added that the concept aims to achieve full employment and creation of jobs in Key Employment Generators (KEGs) specifically in major industries.
Nineteen (19) local companies and eight (8) overseas employment agencies participated in this year's daylong activity. Out of the 855 total registered jobseekers, 16% or 136 were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS). Mr. Amancio A. Garzon was the first on the list of HOTS who will soon be working for Globe Telecommunication as a Frontline Service Personnel.
To mark the opening of the activity, partners, employers and jobseekers participated in a motorcade around city proper followed by a short program. The program was graced by City Mayor Romeo P. Pulmones and PESO Manager Virginia B. Almirol. Camilo A. Encila, Jr, DOLE Field Officer-in-Charge emphasized in his message the Department's role to promote, facilitate and enhance the employment situation in the Region.
Aside from the job and livelihood fair, skilled beneficiaries from LGU-Vincenzo Sagun, Zamboanga del Sur also took center-stage during DOLE's turnover of livelihood starter kits amounting to PHP 287,000.00. Meanwhile, 30 Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged /Displaced Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries from Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur received PHP 191,100.00 representing their wages for the period of 20 days under the Clean and Green Project.
Other activities were also held in connection to the upcoming celebration of the "48th Araw ng Pagadian" on June 21, 2017 such as DTI's business fair, TESDA's free massage, haircut and nail care services, and a one-stop-shop participated by OWWA, PRC, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig and PIA to cater to clients with inquiries on their programs and services. #
