SPES GOT TALENT exposes hidden potentials of SPES beneficiaries

As part of the month-long 113th Labor Month Celebration and Province-wide SAULOGFestival,the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council Dipolog City chaired by Hon. Mayor Evelyn T. Uy in partnership with Provincial Government Office through Gov. Roberto Y. Uy, Zamboanga del Norte Association of PESO Managers and Department of Labor and Employment headed by Director Sisinio B. Cano thru the Zamboanga del Norte Field Office held the SPES Got the Talent Year 5 last May 26, 2015 at Boulevard, Dipolog City.The event was participated in by SPES beneficiaries from different sponsoring LGUs, SUCs and private establishments.
The Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) program is not only helping financially through providing employment opportunities to poor but deserving students, but also discovering and enhancing their hidden talents and potentials.
The event, which is on its 5th year now, showcased free style performances of the student-grantees which led them to exposure in socio-cultural dynamics. The event also provided a venue to demonstrate and expose their hidden talents, boost their confidence, and enhance the value of teamwork.
The contest was categorized into Individual and Group. Cash incentives, tokens and certificates of participation were given to the winners and participants. For the individual category, Saint Vincent's College was awarded 1st with P5, 000 cash prize, Asialink Shopping landed 2nd with P3,000 cash and LGU-Dapitan reaped 3rd place with P2,000 as cash prize.
For Group Category, LGU - Dipolog made it to the top with P15, 000 cash prize, followed by Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) Dipolog Campus in 2nd place with P10, 000 cash prize and the 3rd place went to Colegio de San Francisco Javier with P5, 000 cash prize.
Further, SPES GOT TALENT has been an avenue to raise public awareness of DOLE Programs specifically SPES to encourage potential employers from private and government sectors to join, participate and implement SPES in the coming years.
