FEBRUARY IS JOBS MONTH FOR DOLE SIBUGAY
March 25, 2014
February is popularly known by people as love month, but in Sibugay, February has turn into a Jobs Month as five (5) Job Fairs were being conducted just within the month. Job Fairs are good platforms for both jobseekers and employers to meet in one place to search for new employment for the jobseekers and to hire potential workers for the employers
The first Job Fair event started in Kalawit, Zamboanga Del Norte on February 10, 2014 with 44 applicants registered in which 5 applicants were hired on the spot. The event was graced by ARD Virgie L. Bonbon who was also the Guest of Honor in the Opening Ceremony of the Araw ng Kalawit 2014.
The second week opened with the Jobs Fair in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay with 53 applicants registered and 23 applicants qualified for local and overseas work. The fair was conducted to provide job opportunity to their constituents as the municipality was also celebrating the Araw ng Kabasalan 2014.
The third week of February proved to be a big and colorful celebration for Zamboanga Sibugay as the province celebrated its 13th founding anniversary with not only one but two separate Jobs Fair being conducted. The first was on February 21-22, 2014 sponsored by Governor Wilter Yap-Palma with 168 applicants who packed the third floor of the capitol building. There were 69 applicants who qualified for local and overseas jobs while there were 27 applicants hired on the spot for overseas work. The second Jobs Fair was held on February 26, 2014 sponsored by Cong. Dulce Ann K. Hofer of the first district in commemoration of the birthday of the Founding Father of Sibugay, Dr. George T. Hofer and culmination of the Araw ng Sibugay. The event successfully registered 81 applicants with 7 jobseekers who were hired on the spot for overseas and local jobs. Director Sisinio B. Cano personally attended to this twin event and talked with Governor Palma, Congresswoman Hofer and Congresswoman Cabilao for other possible convergent activities.
As the week's draws to the end of February, the LGU of Buugwas not left behind by also conducting their own Jobs Fair on February 27-28, 2014 in celebration of the Araw ng Buug. There were 100 applicants who went to the commercial center of Buug, the Buug Land Transport and Integrated Bus Terminal Hall to look for job vacancies. There were16 applicants hired on the spot for overseas work.
The successful conduct of the 5 Job Fair events was a result of the active synergy of the Federation of PESO Managers in Sibugay, Local Government Units, OWWA, POEA and the DOLE.
