Mr. Teddy M. Kahil has clearly contributed to the development of his sector. Perseverance and determination brought him to where he is now. His huge contributions vary from community works to lobbying for the passage of ordinances in connection with the existing legislation for the Person with Disabilities (PWDs) sector. Among those is the passage of the Ordinance 354, establishing the Person with Disability Affairs Unit (PDAU) under the Local Government Units (LGUs).
He is also an incumbent council member for Region IX under the National Anti-poverty Commission (NAPC), and Regional President of Zamboanga Peninsula Federation of PWDs where sits as member of the Regional KALAHI Convergence Group and regular member of the Regional Committee on Disability Affairs.
Aside from his regular attendance to the different conferences and meetings both regional and national relative to the PWD affairs, he is also frequently tapped as resource person in the academe and in different LGUs in the region to talk on the different legislation and its updates. Likewise, he delivers testimonies during forums to inspire other PWDs to hope and aspire to move on and live normal lives through the intervention of the government and other stakeholders.
He likewise enjoys respect from service providers and advocates by being member of the following special bodies and committees, such as Zamboanga City Development Council, Local Poverty Reduction Action Team, and Regional Committee on Disability Affairs No. IX, Regional Kalahi Convergence Group, Social Committee of Regional Development Council No. IX and Area Based Standard Network.
On August 28, Teddy Kahil together with RD Sisinio B. Cano will be receiving his distinguished award as the first ever visually impaired registered Social Worker in the country with a master's degree in Social Welfare. Well-liked among PWD leaders and served as a role model, Teddy has the quality of being able to articulate his advocacy through articles and position papers on behalf of other PWDs.
